10 on 10 January 2011

Ten on Ten: 10 pictures on the 10th day of the month!
{Document a snapshot of your life & find beauty among the ordinary things in your day!}
Happy Monday & Happy 10 on 10!
It's the first 10 on 10 for the year 2011!

My morning coffee in my new *awesome* coffee mug that looks like a Canon lens. My mother in law gave it to me for Christmas! It trips me out drinking out of it because I keep thinking it is a lens!
Good morning! Ready for work!
The desk in my classroom, Hello Monday morning!
Lunch of Champions....Trader Joe's BBQ Chicken Salad is SO yummy!
On my way home from work (Don't worry, I was at a stop sign) It was 48 degrees at 1 pm.
Brrrr.....It has been SO cold the past few days.
(I am sure all of you who have real winter weather & snowy conditions are laughing at me right now)
We are wimpy Californians....we need warmer weather. We aren't used to this :)
While the girls napped, I was able to finish working on an order for my Etsy shop for Cowboy Invites & Cupcake Toppers. This is one of my favorite themes!
And, I cleaned the bathroom. Monday is my new cleaning bathroom day.
This scrubber is my no-sponge solution, since I am a sponge-a-phobe.
Which, by the way, I find comfort that I am not alone in my phobia. Thanks for all the comments & support :)
This scrubber brush worked GREAT! Totally recommend it!

Making dinner....Chicken Teriyaki Stir Fry! It smells AMAZING!
We are having an early dinner so we can watch the BCS National Championship!
We will be rooting for Oregon since they represent the West Coast. And, because it would be fun if a Pac-10 (soon to be Pac-12) team won. Plus, I have a ton of friends who went to Oregon.
And after the football game? The Bachelor, of course!

Hope you had a great 10th!

Aug 10 Saturday Mornings

I don't think this is anything too earth-shattering, but Saturday mornings are pretty much the best time of the week for my family. Friday nights are great and all, but we are usually tired from the work week and it's only the evening hours that are really 'ours'. But Saturdays? The best, because we have the whole weekend spread out in front of us. My favorite Saturday mornings involve no plans at all. Just bumming around the house with the kids for a bit before we really get our butts into gear and start running our errands/laundry/cleaning/etc/etc/etc that all fits into a weekend somehow. The calm before the storm, if you will. I love (most) Saturday mornings 1000x more than I love Sunday nights when the weekend is over and it's back to reality the next day. Mondays are when my family can't spend every minute of the day together---which of course, is both a good and bad thing depending on everyone's mood.

Because if every day was a weekend day, or even if every morning was a Saturday morning, then it wouldn't be special anymore. It wouldn't have that palpable sense of contentment and happiness and anticipation for some time to r-e-l-a-x and reconnect.

I'd still like to bottle up the feeling of a Saturday morning, though. Even if they don't come often enough I realize it's better that way. Somehow ;)

This past Saturday morning involved tickling the kids, eating a yummy breakfast in more than 2 minutes flat, dancing to music, drinking LOTS of coffee after a 5 am wake up call from Miss Thang, and then some time in our backyard and driveway. I pulled out the real camera because the light was just too perfect. Let's remember that we had already been up for three hours at this 8 am time of day. Apparently 8 am is a great time for sunlight, but also the excitement of a Saturday morning automatically makes pretty pictures, if you ask me.

These two make me smile. They are actually playing together nicely...quite frequently...and I cannot get enough of it.

10 Movies I love watching during Christmas

Once Thanksgiving is over, I am in full Christmas mode and Kevin & I watch Christmas movies almost every night.
Some of my favorite movies to watch are Hallmark Christmas movies. They are so cheesy, but I just love them!!!
If I'm not watching a Hallmark Christmas movie, then I am watching one of these Christmas movies (we own all of these DVD's)
Here are 10 movies that I love watching during the Christmas season:
(I've linked all the DVD's...all of them are under $10 and free 2 day shipping!)

10. Polar Express (I love this movie & own it, but our girls haven't seen it yet)

9. The Family Stone (Dysfunctional Christmas.....fun cast)

8. Frosty the Snowman (this was my FAVORITE Christmas cartoon as a kid, now my girls love it as well)

7. The Grinch (Jim Carrey version)

6. The Family Man (We watch this every Thanksgiving night to kick off the Christmas season)

5. Serendipity (This movie started my love affair with NYC during Christmas. I NEED to go to NYC during Christmas. My sisters & I did go to the actual Serendipity 10 years ago when we did 9-11 relief and we got the famous Frozen Hot Chocolate. So good. Want to go back!)

4. A Christmas Story (This plays 24 hours all night long on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day. Every Christmas Eve night, we keep the TV on in our room so that we can watch it, even in the middle of the night.)

3. Home Alone & Home Alone 2
I LOVE both of these. They are a Christmas staple. I watch them EVERY SINGLE December.

 2. Elf....Such a great movie. It was almost my number 1. So many great lines in this movie.

1. Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation
This is my favorite Christmas movie. It never gets old. I laugh every time.
So, there you have it. My top 10 movies that I love watching during the Christmas season.
Not on my list include all the made for TV Christmas movies that I have DVR'd from the Lifetime/Hallmark/ABC Family channels. That deserves it's own post. Ha!
I LOVE the cheesy Lifetime/Hallmark movies...as soon as December 1st hits, I start filling up our DVR with cheesy Christmas movies...the cheesier the better!

Are there any movies that I don't have on my list that I should? I would love to hear your favorites!

And, thanks to everyone who has linked up for the cookie exchange!
So many yummy recipes! Go check them out if you haven't already & leave a comment there to be entered in the cookbook giveaway!

10 pictures on the 10th day of the month!
{Document a snapshot of your life & find beauty among the ordinary things in your day!}

Coffee Cake Breakfast before church.
(I always make a yummy breakfast treat on Saturday mornings so that we have something good to eat on the weekend mornings!)
Our playbill from our date night last night. Kevin & I saw Mary Poppins on Broadway that was showing in the Bay Area. Very entertaining!
What I wore to church...31 weeks tomorrow! Eeek!
Kate making her PB & J for lunch:
It was a beautiful day out & we had lunch outside. The girls both wanted to sit by Kevin, so they moved their chairs so he was in the middle. I had the rest of the table to myself :) I swear this baby is going to come out loving panini's. I could eat them everyday. Today's version was ham, cheddar cheese & tomatoes on sourdough. YUM.
Kevin finishing up touch up paint in our master bathroom.
Claire giving "Bunny" a ride on her bike.
The hydrangeas in my front yard are starting to bloom!
I spent most of the afternoon sorting through bins of the girls old clothes that I have in the garage. I am still trying to get through my 40 Bags in 40 days.
Dinner! Cheeseburgers with pepper jack cheese & BBQ sauce (and the lettuce is from our garden! yay!)
Linking up here!
ten on ten button

Hope you had a great 10th!
Not pictured in my set was the meltdowns that Claire had today. Wow, she had quite the day of not listening & being defiant. Kevin put her to bed at 7pm.
Sad the weekend is over, but the good news is it's the last week of school!!!!
Summer is almost here! I can't wait!

10 pictures on the 10th day of the month!
{Document a snapshot of your life & find beauty among the ordinary things in your day!}
ten on ten button
It's December 10th! You know what that means?
It's the last 10 on 10 for the year 2013.
This month has flown by.
This year has flown by.

Here in California, we have been having a cold streak for almost a week.
For the past 5 days, it has been in the high 20's - low 30's in the mornings.
I took this as I arrived at school this morning. Brrrrr.
#wimpycalifornian
Coffee & a Luna Bar. My breakfast everyday. Around 9am.
(I can't eat until a few hours after I wake up.)
My school is right next to a park. Such a pretty view. Winter is here....all the leaves are almost gone.
After school, I picked up Luke & while I was standing in the kitchen making lunch, he ripped the button off my new boots!!!! He is such a destructive little guy. I called Nordstrom & I can exchange them. Reason #482 I love Nordstrom. Best customer service ever.
Prepping these candies to make these cookies again. Best Christmas cookies EVER.
Luke & I ran a few errands...had to pick up some Rainbow loom rubber bands for the girls stockings. The sky was so pretty tonight.
Lights on our house.
Today's stash of Christmas cards. Nothing makes me happier than getting the mail in December. I just love, love, love getting Christmas cards & seeing my friends beautiful families.
Obsessed with the tree. Can't keep him away from it.
After dinner, the kids went to sleep & then it was time to relax.
We had our neighborhood Christmas party over the weekend & I made Peppermint Oreo Ice Cream Cake for dessert.  There were a few pieces left over, so I had some tonight and watched a cheesy Christmas movie on Hallmark.
I LOVE all the cheesy Christmas movies on Hallmark/Lifetime/ABC Family.
Recipe HERE.

So, there you have it. A peek into our day.
Hope you had a wonderful Tuesday!
